Answering that question

The question: "So HOW many cats do you have?"

This question can be answered in a variety of ways. Some of my favorites:

"Oh, they're not mine. They've just chosen me as their queen."

"More than four, less than 10."

"I'm just glad I don't have to put them all through college like my brother and his SEVEN children."

I get this question all the time. Now, with the certainty that my latest foster is, again, a foster failure, I've stopped answering honestly.

But the real question is, "how did I get here?"

"Here" is a house in the suburbs of Sacramento, in my home state of California, where I live with my husband of 3.5 months and our zoo: seven cats and a dog.

SEVEN cats? Yup, seven cats. All beloved, all (somewhat miraculously) get along.

How did I get here? Well, keep reading.

Friend of the animals

if you don’t wanna love me I got animals to love me

if you don’t wanna love me I got kittens I got puppies

As a teaser, I've decided this first post should just be a hint of our current zoo:

Butters, 9. He's orange and white.
Murphy, 9. He's black and white.
Zeke, 17. He's also black and white.
Mama, 3. She's gray and white.
Sansa, 2. She's black and white.
Bran, 2. He's...also black and white.
Bijou, 4. She's light brown.
Precious ❤ 3 months. She's brownish/grayish/cuteish.

More fur and fury to come.
